The glass was already in place so a window treatment using cut vinyl that looks like etched glass was a clever alternate option. Basia designed the artwork using vector software and James Davis from Kapiti Signs supplied and installed the cut vinyl. The clients are very happy with the final outcome. They now have an original artwork by Basia Smolnicki that is both functional and unique, and the window treatment provides them with privacy by screening out the view of the neighbouring property.
Once on site, the artwork becomes much more than ever imagined. Light changes everything. Light projected through the window artwork casts patterns of light in all shapes and sizes inside the house and out. An imaginary world of light and shadow appears and then magically disappears as cloud blocks out sunlight or a flick of the switch turns on a light. Lucky next door neighbours! They get a great view both day or night.
